Laser optoacoustic imaging, also known as photoacoustic imaging, is an advanced biomedical imaging technique that combines the high contrast of optical imaging with the deep tissue penetration of ultrasound. It works by delivering short laser pulses to biological tissues, which absorb the light and undergo rapid thermoelastic expansion, generating ultrasonic waves. These waves are then detected by ultrasound sensors to reconstruct images that reveal structural, functional, and molecular information.
